Dance and film legend Fred Astaire shows a powerful sign of life with his new Electro Swing
CD on the 30th anniversary of his death. In addition to the 30th anniversary of the death of the world’s most famous dancer on 22 June 2017, the Fred Astaire Dance Studios®, founded by the exceptional artist in 1947 and which now includes 170 dance studios worldwide, is also celebrating its 70th anniversary.

For this occasion, the album Puttin´ On The Ritz – A Tribute To Fred Astaire, featuring well-known songs from the dance and film legend re-recorded in Electro Swing style, will be released this autumn. After the success of the CD single Puttin´ On The Ritz 2017 with 80s cult star Taco, which stormed the international download charts from Austria this year, another prelude of the tribute album is now available.

Dancing Cheek to Cheek was originally written by Irving Berlin for the Fred Astaire / Ginger Rogers film Top Hat (1935). At the 1936 Academy Awards ceremony, the title was nominated for the Oscar for best song and later recorded in the Great American Songbook.

Rainer C. Regatschnig, who as music producer and manager of Fred Astaire Dance Studios in Austria had the idea of reissuing these Fred Astaire songs, produced the latest version of Dancing Cheek To Cheek together with DJs Justin Fidéle and Wolfgang Lohr from Berlin. The additional new vocals were recorded in London by Alex Larke, who represented the musical nation of Great Britain in 2015 with the electro-swing title “Still In Love With You” under the band name Electro Velvet at the 60th Songcontest in Vienna.

The live première of the new single CD single Dancing Cheek To Cheek by FRED A. STAIRE feat. Alex Larke will be performed at the Fête Impériale, the summer ball of the Spanish Riding School, on 23 June 2017 as part of a guest appearance at the Fred Astaire Dance Studios Vienna, under the charity motto: “Dance to keep the Lipizzaners dancing”. After all, not many people know it, but Fred Astaire was a confessed lover of horses.
