On Friday night, Aug. 7, at 9 p.m., we’ll be holding the dress rehearsal for the following week’s big event – the Colonial Classic Inter-regional Competition at the Hyatt Regency in Greenwich, CT., on Aug. 13-15. This dress rehearsal is a gussied-up version of our regular practice party, so there will be some intensity along with the usual good-time atmosphere.
You don’t have to be competing to attend this party (or the Colonial Classic, but more about that later), so come on out, work on your own routines and see how our competitors are shaping up for this big affair pitting Fred Astaire Dance Studios against each other. The theme of the Colonial Classic is ‘Life is a Beach,’ so you know that will be fun!
Those who will be dancing in Greenwich are asked to bring their costumes on Friday night for both rhythm and smooth, and we will do mock heats to give you a taste of what the competition is like.
Again, anyone and everyone is invited to attend the practice. You don’t have to be competing. But if you are a Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Belmont student, we feel like you are on the team, so lend us your competitive spirit! In fact, we will be having cheer days next Tuesday and Wednesday nights, and we’ll have more information about those fun days very soon, so keep checking the blog.
Also, please note: The studio will be closed while we are away at the competition, so there will be no lessons on Aug. 13-14 (Thursday and Friday), no practice party on Friday and no lessons on Aug. 17 (Monday).
