{"id":2587,"date":"2016-10-03T10:00:22","date_gmt":"2016-10-03T10:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fredastaire.com\/bloomfield-hills\/?p=2587"},"modified":"2016-10-03T10:00:22","modified_gmt":"2016-10-03T10:00:22","slug":"dance-eases-lifes-challenges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fredastaire.com\/bloomfield-hills\/blog\/lifestyle-self-improvement\/dance-eases-lifes-challenges\/","title":{"rendered":"Dance Eases Life&#8217;s Challenges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A few words with FADS student Melanie Howard&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong>\u201cI was experiencing a challenging time in my life when I started dancing at Fred Astaire Studio in 2014,\u201d says Melanie Howard. \u201cI was looking for a new activity in hopes of simply finding a distraction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fredastaire.com\/bloomfield-hills\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2016\/08\/Beautiful-young-receptionist-at-work-000086245119_Medium.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2590\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fredastaire.com\/bloomfield-hills\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2016\/08\/Beautiful-young-receptionist-at-work-000086245119_Medium-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Beautiful young receptionist at work\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2590\" \/><\/a>Melanie was at a point in her life that cried for change when a friend told her to go find something new, go dance. When she searched for studios, Fred Astaire Dance Studio was the first to pop up. As she clicked to enter the main page, it said CALL NOW. She called.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow can I make you smile?\u201d answered the receptionist. And smile Melanie did.<\/p>\n<p>After that call she started taking lessons, which has resulted in so many positive things, including the development of a new relationship with herself.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fredastaire.com\/bloomfield-hills\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2016\/08\/Tango-Dance-000073175699_Medium.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2588\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fredastaire.com\/bloomfield-hills\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2016\/08\/Tango-Dance-000073175699_Medium-300x237.jpg\" alt=\"Tango Dance\" width=\"300\" height=\"237\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2588\" \/><\/a>\u201cThe staff are all incredibly kind and positive. It\u2019s not just the staff though, it\u2019s everyone. I have made new friendships that will last a lifetime. I have also gained confidence in doing something I\u2019ve never done, and I\u2019ve met people I wouldn\u2019t otherwise have had the privilege of meeting. It\u2019s been really wonderful connecting with new people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dance rejuvenates Melanie, helping her feel balanced. Now, she has more confidence to enquire deeper into newfound interests. Initially, Melanie says she was nervous.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had never danced before, but it\u2019s been a good challenge and dance has helped keep me healthy and positive. Going to the studio feels like family which has helped nurture a new confidence for other aspects in life, too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fredastaire.com\/bloomfield-hills\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2016\/08\/Beautiful-young-girl-with-a-light-natural-makeup-and-000066247575_Medium.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2589\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fredastaire.com\/bloomfield-hills\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2016\/08\/Beautiful-young-girl-with-a-light-natural-makeup-and-000066247575_Medium-300x217.jpg\" alt=\"Beautiful young girl with a light natural make-up and\" width=\"300\" height=\"217\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2589 alignleft\" \/><\/a>\u201cI\u2019m 55 and it\u2019s fun and exciting to learn new things about myself. I\u2019ve even recently completed courses to receive my certification as a makeup artist. I\u2019d like to be able to give back to Fred Astaire so I hope to have opportunity to help students with their makeup for competitions and other special studio events. It\u2019s been an amazing journey; seeking a distraction only to discover I love to dance.
