downtown Boise last fall, Art and Carol Laos saw a sign that it was time to restart their passion for ballroom dancing.\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"sqsrte-large preFlex flexIn\">\u201cWhen we drove by and noticed that Fred Astaire was opening soon we pulled over, took down the number and called immediately to sign up. We were soooo excited!\u201d\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"sqsrte-large preFlex flexIn\">Fred Astaire Boise officially opened its doors September 6, 2022. The next day, Art and Carol took the dance floor as some of our very first students.\u00a0<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><h1>A Long-Time Partnership<\/h1><p class=\"sqsrte-large preFlex flexIn\">Art and Carol have been doing things together for decades. The couple met in their first year of high school at age 15 and have been married 43 years. When they were living in California, Art bought Carol ballroom dance lessons as a Valentine\u2019s Day gift because she \u201calways wanted to learn to dance.\u201d\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"sqsrte-large preFlex flexIn\">After moving to Boise, Art and Carol were looking for a place where they could continue dancing. What keeps you coming back to the studio?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"sqsrte-large preFlex flexIn\">No matter what our day or week has been like, when we get on the dance floor we feel 16 again and all the stresses of the day dissipate. Who wouldn&#8217;t keep coming back?<\/p><p class=\"sqsrte-large preFlex flexIn\"><strong>How would you rate your dance skills before you started compared to now?<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"sqsrte-large preFlex flexIn\">When we first started to dance we were absolute beginners. When we started Fred Astaire we knew some basics but have developed a lot with our great teachers. We are continually amazed at the terrific teaching that makes it so understandable and continue to feel more confident each time we dance.<\/p><p class=\"sqsrte-large preFlex flexIn\"><strong>Do you have a favorite style of dance? Or do you prefer to try them all?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"sqsrte-large preFlex flexIn\">Art loves smooth and Carol prefers rhythm but we love them all. As we are getting a bit better, we realize the reason we didn&#8217;t love a certain style or dance was because we didn&#8217;t know it.\u00a0 When our teachers instructed us in each dance we started to love them all.<\/p><p class=\"sqsrte-large preFlex flexIn\"><strong>Is there anything you\u2019ve learned about yourself or your partner through dance?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"sqsrte-large preFlex flexIn\">We both truly enjoy dancing together and we always feel closer after we dance. It is a great bonding experience.<\/p><p class=\"sqsrte-large preFlex flexIn\"><strong>What would you tell people who are thinking about doing ballroom dance, but are nervous or intimidated by the thought of it?<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"sqsrte-large preFlex flexIn\">Just give it a try. It&#8217;s a friendly environment with absolutely no judgment. The teachers and other students are all very encouraging and it is really fun!<\/p><p class=\"sqsrte-large preFlex flexIn\"><strong>Anything else you&#8217;d like to share about being part of the Fred Astaire Boise dance family?<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"sqsrte-large preFlex flexIn\">We are so glad we are part of this great dance family.
