
David Chancellor was born in Falls Church, Virginia, but grew up in several different cities. He received his mechanical engineering degree from FAMU, in Tallahassee Florida and while there, he joined a dance company and has been dancing ever since. David has continually been a top award-winning teacher with Fred Astaire for over thirteen years, as well as a supervisor, teacher trainer, and owner of the Brandon studio. His style of dancing and methodical approach to teaching has made him a sought-after dance instructor, and he has developed many excellent student competitors who consistently rank among the highest in competitions. He was a professional champion in the Novice division in his early career, and since has won titles in the Pre-champ and Open Rhythm divisions, as well as awards for most sessions taught and outstanding achievements. In 2016, he was honored with three Freddy Awards – Top Male Instructor, most guests and most competition entries. He also received most guests and most competition entries for 2017. Fred Astaire Brandon was named the Valrico FishHawk Chamber of Commerce’s Medium Business of the Year for 2017. David won 2nd place in the Fred Astaire National Mixed Novice division in 2017. He was also 4th Top Rhythm Teacher at Fred Astaire National Dancesport Championships 2018! Most recently, he danced with his wife and partner Kelle in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade! David is excited to be the owner of one of the Fred Astaire Dance Studios in Tampa Bay, where he is continuing his tradition of excellence in the ballroom dance industry.
