About our Black-Tie Charity Gala

On September 9, 2016 the Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Brookfield, Connecticut will be hosting a black-tie gala event at the Amber Room Colonnade in Danbury. This, Dancing with the Stars style, event will be a fundraiser for eight different charities. Charities will be chosen by our eight amateur dancers who will then be paired with professional dance instructors. Each team will have 6 months to prepare a Ballroom or Latin dance routine which will be preformed at the gala. Live music will be provided by “Hot Cat Jazz Band” and dancing will be judged by a celebrity panel. Just as on the T.V. show there will also be a professional performance.

Brookfield’s Dancing Stars will be a night of elegance, punctuated by fun and entertainment. In addition to the social dancing to live music, the competition, and professional show, the night includes a wonderful dinner and open bar. We at Fred Astaire are looking for a diverse group of competitors. Looking for  people who are involved in the community. Thank you in advance for considering being part of this great event coming up this September. We are looking forward to working with you if you decide to participate in the event. ?

How Money Is Raised for Your Charity

Throughout the months leading up to September, each of the teams will be able to raise funds, for their chosen charity, in 3 different ways. The first way will be with the “People’s Choice Award”. People and organizations around the community will be able to vote online for each of the couples that they would like to see win. Each vote will require a
specific denomination to be donated to the charity, and at the gala an award will be given to the team who has raised the most amount of money for their particular charity.
The second way charities will receive funds is from the studio itself. Fred Astaire Brookfield will be donating $500 in lessons to each of the amateur dancers. Any dancer wishing to do so, may purchase as many additional lessons in order to prepare for the event. 15% of the price of all lesson purchased, will be donated to that dancer’s charity. This donation will be separate and not included in the amount tallied for the People’s Choice Award. Finally, 10% of the proceeds from the sale of gala tickets will be awarded to the charity whose dancer who is chosen by the judges as winner of the dance competition.
