About our Black-Tie Charity Gala<\/h2>\n

On September 9, 2016 the Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Brookfield,\u00a0Connecticut will be hosting a black-tie gala event at the Amber Room\u00a0Colonnade in Danbury. This, Dancing with the Stars style, event will be\u00a0a fundraiser for eight different charities. Charities will be chosen by our\u00a0eight amateur dancers who will then be paired with professional dance instructors. Each team will have 6 months to prepare a Ballroom or\u00a0Latin dance routine which will be preformed at the gala. Live music will\u00a0be provided by \u201cHot Cat Jazz Band\u201d and dancing will be judged by a\u00a0celebrity panel. Just as on the T.V. show there will also be a professional\u00a0performance.<\/p>\n

Brookfield\u2019s Dancing Stars will be a night of elegance, punctuated\u00a0by fun and entertainment. In addition to the social dancing to live\u00a0music, the competition, and professional show, the night includes a\u00a0wonderful dinner and open bar.\u00a0We at Fred Astaire are looking for a\u00a0diverse group\u00a0of competitors. Looking for\u00a0\u00a0people who are involved in the community. How Money Is Raised for Your Charity<\/h2>\n

Throughout the months leading up to September, each of the teams\u00a0will be able to raise funds, for their chosen charity, in 3 different ways.\u00a0The first way will be with the \u201cPeople’s Choice Award\u201d. People and\u00a0organizations around the community will be able to vote online for each\u00a0of the couples that they would like to see win. Each vote will require a
\nspecific denomination to be donated to the charity, and at the gala an\u00a0award will be given to the team who has raised the most amount of\u00a0money for their particular charity.
\nThe second way charities will receive funds is from the studio itself.\u00a0Fred Astaire Brookfield will be donating $500 in lessons to each of the\u00a0amateur dancers. Any dancer wishing to do so, may purchase as many\u00a0additional lessons in order to prepare for the event. 15% of the price of\u00a0all lesson purchased, will be donated to that dancer\u2019s charity. This\u00a0donation will be separate and not included in the amount tallied for the\u00a0People\u2019s Choice Award.\u00a0Finally, 10% of the proceeds from the sale of gala tickets will be\u00a0awarded to the charity whose dancer who is chosen by the judges as\u00a0winner of the dance competition.<\/p>\n

Star’s Responsibilities<\/h2>\n

  1. Be available on September 9th, the night of the gala, from 7pm until midnight.<\/li>\n
  2. Choose a local charity to support by April 1st.<\/li>\n
  3. Be willing to appear as part of the media campaign surrounding the event.<\/li>\n
  4. Promote and encourage donations to your charity of choice via our online portal<\/li>\n
  5. Promote the event to achieve maximum attendance<\/li>\n
  6. Attend a fitting from our generous sponsor Dress for Dance.<\/li>\n
