In fact, Angelelli not only performs as a wheelchair dancer, she spearheads a movement to create opportunities for other individuals in wheelchairs to learn ballroom dance.<\/p>\n<p>Angelelli and her professional dance partner, Tamerlan Gadirov, are the No. 1-ranked wheelchair ballroom dance couple in the U.S.,<strong> and they will teach a wheelchair ballroom dance class on Saturday, April 6 from 3-4:30 p.m. at the Brookfield studio<\/strong> (15760 W. Capital Dr., Brookfield).<\/p>\n<p>This is the <strong>first of its kind<\/strong> in the Fred Astaire Wisconsin region and we are hoping you can all join us! This will be a <strong>FREE introduction<\/strong> to wheelchair ballroom dance class. <strong>Both manual and power wheelchair users welcome.<\/strong> You may bring dance partner with you, or we\u2019ll provide a professional dance partner for you! Attendees will <strong>learn different dance styles<\/strong> from the top ranked wheelchair ballroom dance couple in the U.S., Cheryl Angelelli and Tamerlan Gadirov!<\/p>\n<p>Angelelli is the co-founder of <strong>Dance Mobility<\/strong>, a free wheelchair ballroom dance program that was created in 2015 at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, where Angelelli and Gadirov train. A grant from the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan Foundation supports the program.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fredastaire.com\/brookfield-wi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2019\/03\/cheryltamerlan-300x219.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4800 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fredastaire.com\/brookfield-wi\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2019\/03\/cheryltamerlan-300x219-300x219.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"219\" \/><\/a>Angelelli and Gadirov not only teach wheelchair ballroom dancing but <strong>compete nationally and internationally<\/strong>, having won multiple dance titles in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know how much <strong>joy<\/strong> dancing has brought me, and I want to share it with other people with disabilities and help them experience the <strong>freedom of movement<\/strong>,\u201d says Angelelli. \u201cI may not dance with my feet, but I dance with my <strong>heart<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Also participating in the April 6 class, is <strong>Ms. Wheelchair Wisconsin 2019, Autumn Neugent.<\/strong> She has multiple sclerosis and uses a wheelchair.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI cannot wait to participate in this event. I am excited to learn how to move and feel elegant in my wheelchair,\u201d Neugent says. \u201cMy platform as Ms. Wheelchair Wisconsin is Ability Awareness. Showing folks that we have so many abilities is a passion of mine.
