Bachata, a beautifully expressive dance, was born in the Dominican Republic in the early 20th century. Its rich blend of Indigenous, African, and European influences gives it a unique cultural flavor. Originally embraced in rural neighborhoods, Bachata faced significant challenges during the Trujillo dictatorship (1930\u20131961), where it was nearly silenced as a \u201clower-class art form.\u201d Thankfully, after the regime ended, Bachata experienced a powerful resurgence, spreading its heartfelt rhythms and passionate moves across Latin America and Mediterranean Europe. Often compared to the Blues in the U.S., this sensual dance is all about expressing deep emotions like heartbreak, romance, and longing.<\/span><\/p>

At its core, Bachata is built on a simple three-step pattern with a Cuban hip motion, topped off with a signature tap and hip movement on the fourth beat.
