Summer is Off to a Successful Start!

We had a big day – actually, a couple of them – at the 4^th annual New England Dance Extravaganza held June 19-20 at the Marriott Mystic in Groton, CT. This is a FADS regional competition, with solo performances the first day and team performances the next. Can you guess who came home with the hardware?

Right. No wonder we’re wearing big smiles and the winners’ ribbons!

In the Top Team Match Studios competition, FADS Dedham finished on top with an average score of 93.58. We beat out No. 2 Plymouth (93.17). There was a three-way tie for third place between Southport, Middletown and South Windsor (93.05).

The student who won Top Solo Showdance was our own Denise Hajjar, with her teacher Arkadi Beybutan. Denise, a noted fashion designer in Boston, posted a score of 96.7 and we are so proud of her! Her win on Friday night June 19 earned her the right to perform at the banquet the following night. Congratulations Denise!

On top of all that, FADS Dedham Square earned honors for Team Spirit. That’s a tribute to the positive outlook and dedication of our students.

The next big competition is the Tri Star Championships on Nov. 12-14 at the Foxwoods Resort & Casino. Keep your eyes on the calendar and the blog for more information about that great event.
