We make goals. Resolutions.
Generally they include shedding pounds, showing signs of improved health, accomplishing something for our well-being and mental outlook.
Fred Astaire Dance Studios of Doctor Phillips is the ideal place for you to start genuine change in your life and the objective of a better you! We offer so much, far more than just the pleasure of dance.
Dance has so many physical, mental, and emotional benefits. The community at our studio becomes a family. We’re supportive of one another, and 100% non-judgmental. We try to help each other accomplish their aims. We socialize at studio dance parties, we go to competitions to support our studio’s entrants, we do benefits in the community, we strive to be just a little bit better than before.
Those are reasonable goals. We just make them fun.
Remember, ballroom dancing can be great exercise in a low-stress environment. Try one of our salsa classes and you will never climb on a treadmill again! You want to drop a few holiday pounds? Dance. According to livestrong.com, at a more vigorous pace, you can expect to burn about 360 calories an hour at a weight of 125 pounds, while a weight of 155 pounds causes you to burn close to 450 calories per hour.
Dance is, of course, very social. Group effort is involved in line dances, and such ballroom staples as the waltz and foxtrot, taught in FADS group classes and by individual instructors, offer the opportunity to get to know your classmates and have different partners as you hone your skills.
New Year’s resolutions are hard to keep. Gyms are packed the first two weeks of January, and then empty out again. Be part of the crowd that actually creates change in their lives!
Come and see us. Sign up for dance classes. Make that your New Year’s resolution. You will be pleasantly surprised by all of the great benefits you’ll experience once you start dancing. You will feel better, look better and have more fun. You’ll meet new people in a comfortable setting and you will discover a passion you didn’t you had.
