Fred Astaire Doylestown Competes at the Fred Astaire World Championships!

The week of July 22, the Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Doylestown traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada to compete in the Fred Astaire World Championships, one of the largest Fred Astaire Dance Competitions in the country. With their second time competing, the Doylestown Team brought with them aspiration and determination to make this experience an unforgettable success.

In her second year competing in this prestigious competition, student Kelly Brexler worked incredibly hard with studio owner and professional instructor Igori Bogatiriov and proudly won the championship for smooth division, as well as second in the smooth scholarship division. In addition, Kelly took home fourth place in the rhythm championship and scholarship divisions.

Kelly’s husband, Jim Brexler, placed first in a rhythm championship and second in a smooth championship. Together as an amateur couple they took home second place in the smooth championship.

The Brexler’s son, Jackson Manning, graced the floor with his charismatic performances placing first and second in two separate rhythm dance championships in the junior division. He placed first in both smooth champion and scholarship divisions. Jackson also performed in the solo division both singing and dancing with his incredibly talented professional partner and instructor Rita Golubeva to “The Way You Look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra.

Liz Benke danced flawlessly with Igori placing first in the smooth scholarship division, first and second in the smooth championship divisions and third in both rhythm scholarship and championship divisions.

Chris, Shelly, Reed and Maggie Beck came prepared capturing the hearts of the audience with their wonderful family dynamic dancing together as well as individually. As a family they performed a solo group dance and received the title of Best Amateur Group Dance. Siblings, Maggie and Reed placed first in both the smooth and rhythm championship junior divisions. As an amateur couple, their parents Chris and Shelly placed first in their smooth and rhythm championships. Chris and his instructor Rita proudly took second place in the rhythm championship. Shelly and her instructor Val elegantly took sixth place in the smooth championship.
