February is a month for big events at Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Sugarland.
Coming up on Friday, Feb. 15, is Rhythm of the Night Audition Day at the Hilton Post Oak in Houston. This is an audition for our summer Showcase in August. The theme is Disney villains.
Here is a great opportunity to experience dancing on stage in front of people and in competition. Students will get to meet with our professional choreographers to discuss routine, music, and costume ideas. Enjoy free Dance Clinics and dinner!
Also on Friday the 15th and Saturday, Feb. 16 is the Freddy Ball. This is an electrifying event filled with music, dancing, and gorgeous dance outfits. The best of the best are being honored (best studio, best instructors, best students, etc.).
The event also includes an amazing Banquet Dinner-Dance and Professional Show that you don’t want to miss. The Freddy Ball is known as our “Oscar and Academy Awards,” as top teachers – the best of the best – will be awarded a “Freddy Award” for their outstanding performances of the previous year. Check with us for more information about attending.

- Thursday, Feb. 14 is our Pink Party at 8 p.m.
- Saturday, Feb. 23 is the Student Social Club outing. It’s from 9-11 p.m. at Club Tropicana. Dress code is casual. Come with us as we take our dance act on the road.
- Thursday, Feb. 28 marks our National Chili Day Potluck at 8 p.m.! Join the Chili-Cook Off and show off that great family recipe! The winner receives a FREE Starlight entry (showcase in August) which is a $250 value!
