We’ve got some fun events planned throughout January, and we hope to see you at all of them, along with your usual ballroom dance classes at the FADS Sugarland studio.
“Dancescape 2019! A Night on the Orient Express” takes place Friday, Jan. 18, and Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Hobby Center in Zilkha Hall. This dance-show spectacular will have everything from ballroom to Latin. It is one of the two big regional shows we do each year, featuring student performances and a wonderful exhibition by our professionals. The show is open to all. Tickets are available at our studio locations and at the door.
The DanceCentral Potluck, a joint party for students of Sugarland and River Oaks, takes place at the Sugarland studio on Thursday, Jan. 24, at 8 p.m. Bring a dish to share and meet new friends from a neighboring studio! The potluck will be the finale to our Dance Central contest. What is Dance Central you may ask….Dance Central is a video game in which you mimic the actions on the screen to perform a dance routine. You score points based on your performance, using a variety of music.
You can enter the contest by coming into the studio any time this month (before the 24th) and play the game set up in our office. After each song, you will receive a score. Take a picture of your score and have your instructor record your progress. The top 8 scores will be entered into the finals tournament that will take place during the Potluck event on January 24th!
The Ballroom Blitz Mini Match is Friday, Jan. 25 at The Woodlands Studio. This is a friendly competition between the Houston studios’ students and is always a good time as we match skills and enjoy meeting others!
Come on out and join the party (or parties)! You do not want to miss any of our great activities. Start the New Year on the right feet – dancing feet!
