Wow, what a busy month for everyone at the Houston-Memorial studio. Let us try to catch you up so that you can attend every one of our great events.
On Thursday, Sept. 13, we will have Hayk Arshakian coaching in the studio! Hayk is incredibly accomplished, as an 11-time Fred Astaire American Rhythm champion, a 4-time United States Pro/Am American rhythm champion and a 5-time United States Pro/Am International Latin finalist. The best part for you, as you call your instructor to book your time with Hayk? He was also Fred Astaire Top Teacher of the Year in 2005.
Also on the immediate horizon: On Friday, Sept. 14 and Saturday, Sept. 15, we have a regional competition called Texarama! The event is located at the San Luis Resort in Galveston. The students who are currently planning on participating in the competition are Martha Keller, Ron Ripley, John Bogard, Azita Madjidi, George Kell, Mary Kate Kell, Jaime Robledo, and Noella Tannous. So if you see them in the studio, please wish them luck! There will also be a dinner with live music, a professional show, and tons of social dancing that Saturday night, so please come and join us for great food, great people, and of course great music and dancing (the theme is “Around the World” and our country is Russia, so come dressed in your Russian best)! There will also be a line dance contest on Saturday and we need as many students to participate as possible. So if you would like to take part in that, you can come watch the competition and cheer on your friends and then dance in our Russian line.
