July is Jammed Pack!

Hope everyone enjoyed their Fourth of July. And now it’s time for fireworks in the studio!

Sergei Shapoval will be here coaching on Thursday, July 12. He was a 2014 World Open Rhythm Finalist as well as the 2013 World Professional American Smooth Rising Star Champion. He will be working with students on all styles of their dances while helping to improve the overall quality of their dancing. Please check with your instructor to book your time with this outstanding professional!

On Friday, July 13, we will be having a studio party, so come on out and enjoy great people and great dancing here at the Houston Memorial studio from 8:15-9:30 p.m.!

Jumping ahead to Friday, July 20, we welcome Ginette Cournoyer for coaching sessions in the studio. She helped coach the Canadian ice skating team at the last Winter Olympics! She is also the former Professional Canadian Champion in Standard and 10 Dance, reaching 9th in the world. Again, talk to your instructor to make sure you get time with Ginette.

On Saturday, July 21, Jan Mattingly (Undefeated Fred Astaire smooth and rhythm champion in the 1980s) will be holding a master class at the studio for all students who would like to participate in improving their smooth and rhythm technique while enjoying a fun form of exercise on a Saturday afternoon! It will be held from 1-2:30 p.m.

Wednesday, July 25 brings us Alan Fenwick coaching in the studio. He is the regional dance director of Texas and loves to come each month and help students grow and improve in their dancing. On Friday, July 27, we will be hosting another studio party (we’re still cooking up a great theme).

A special tip of the top hat here to student John Board and his instructor, Yolanda Ribota. They’re heading off to the Fred Astaire World Championships, a week-long national competition that begins on Monday, July 23, in Las Vegas. FAWC is a huge competition for both amateurs and professionals. Wish John and Yolanda much luck and success.
