That’s the way we like it at the Houston-Memorial Fred Astaire Dance Studio – constant action.

We hope everyone enjoyed Thursday night’s fundraiser for the Rise School of Houston. Thanks to all, especially instructor Joshua Bradford and his student, Manomanee Smith, who is a teacher at the Rise School.

Now, onto tonight. We’ve got a practice party from 8:15-9:30 p.m. What a great opportunity to enjoy practicing your dancing and meeting all of our other fabulous students in a very social atmosphere.

Do we ever rest? We do not. On Saturday we have Team Match at the Marriott West Loop near the Galleria from 6-11 p.m. Each studio will be wearing its team color (Memorial is royal blue) and the students earn points for their team each time they dance. The event feels like a giant pep rally with tons of people cheering their team on, so we will need as many people as possible to come cheer on Team Memorial and pump up the students who are dancing for our team!

We’re back in action on Monday, April 16, with a special guest. Ania Tarnowska will be coaching in our studio. She is a National Champion ballroom dancer from Las Vegas and competed on the TV series “So You Think You Can Dance Poland.” She is experienced in coaching students in all forms of partnership dancing, so let your instructor know if you would like to reserve a time for coaching with Ania.

Friday, April 20, brings our Dancing through the Decades Studio Party. Come dressed in the fashion of your favorite decade! There will be food, drinks, social dancing, and games to help encourage everyone to hit the dance floor. We look forward to seeing you here from 8:15-9:30 p.m.

Saturday, April 21, features a Group Coaching Session with Jan Mattingly. Jan Mattingly was a six-time undefeated Smooth and Rhythm Champion and she is coming to Memorial to do group coaching sessions with some of our students from 12-3 p.m. This event is taking place from 12-3 here at the Memorial Studio. It is an event for all of our students who took place in Festival last month by sponsoring their instructors.

And (drum roll, please) … From April 24-28, is CCDC. This is a National Competition taking place here in Houston at the JW Marriott Marquis Downtown. There will be an entire week full of student competitions, professional competitions, and dinners with live bands and social dancing. We would love everyone to get to experience how incredible these national events can be, especially since we will only be hosting CCDC for one more year after this. Our students participating in this event include Azita Majidi, John Bogard, Ann Sanders, Ron Ripley, and Martha Keller.

Got time for us? We’ve got plenty for you.
