noreferrer\">Penn Live<\/a><\/em><\/p><p>York County has a new studio for ballroom dancing, and the studio is part of a franchise that bears the name of the late legendary actor and dancer, Fred Astaire.<\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/staging-fadsmarketingsite.kinsta.cloud\/lancaster-pa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fred Astaire Dance Studio of York<\/a>\u00a0has opened at Delco Plaza, 1113 Carlisle Road in West Manchester Township. The studio is located in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pennlive.com\/business-news\/index.ssf\/2017\/05\/trade_talk_277.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a new 4,000-square-foot facility\u00a0<\/a>which includes 1,700 square feet of dance floor space.<\/p><p>The studio features ballroom and Latin style dance lessons for all ages and abilities, and is open from noon \u2013 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. \u2013 2 p.m. Saturday.<\/p><p>Fred Astaire Dance Studio of York opened in May and is owned by Steven Parker and Tara White Timple. Parker and White Timple met more than a decade ago at a dance studio in Knoxville, Tennessee, when White Timple and her late husband began taking dance lessons at a studio where Parker was teaching. Seven years later, Parker became an instructor and trainer at a dance studio in York County and White Timple signed up to take some of his group classes. When White Timple decided to open the dance studio she asked Parker to join her. He has more than 24 years of experience working in the dance industry.<\/p><p>A grand opening celebration will be held from 5 p.m. \u2013 7 p.m. July 20, and will feature professional dance performances, free beginner dance lessons, and refreshments. height=\"129\" \/>Steven Parker has been a student, teacher and choreographer in the world of dance since 1994, back when the average age of new students was 65.<\/p><p>Now, the average age has dropped down to 45, and Parker and others at the new Fred Astaire Dance Studio near York want to capitalize on that youth movement, as well as the overall interest in dance.<\/p><p>The Fred Astaire studio at 1113\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cpbj.com\/article\/20170130\/CPBJ01\/170139991\/marcos-pizza-of-york-has-a-new-home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Carlisle Road<\/a>, in a former Infinito\u2019s Buffet in West Manchester Township, opened May 1. It will hold an official grand opening celebration next Thursday, July 20, from 5 to 7 p.m., featuring professional dance performances, free beginner dance lessons and a grand opening cake by a famed pastry chef, Susan Notter.<\/p><p>Parker is the manager at the new 4,000-square-foot facility in Delco Plaza, which offers 1,700 square feet of dance floor space. He is one of four people on staff, all dance teachers.<\/p><p>\u201cNo matter the experience, or lack thereof, we want to work with our students to help them reach their full potential,\u201d Parker said Tuesday. \u201cThe mark of a good teacher is one who inspires their students to want to learn more.\u201d<\/p><p>The Fred Astaire studio offers ballroom and Latin dance lessons in group classes and private instruction, and in all styles of dance \u2013 waltz, foxtrot, salsa and tango \u2013 its webpage states.<\/p><p>The studio owner is veteran dancer Tara White Timple, a native of York Haven and owner of Bob\u2019s Intowne Spas of York. She spent more than two decades as an entrepreneur in York, according to a York County Economic Alliance news release, and first met Parker when Timple and her late husband began taking dance lessons at a studio in Knoxville, Tenn.<\/p><p>\u201cSteven is an exceptional dance instructor. With his experience in the dancing industry and my years knowing the business community in York, I saw a good fit,\u201d Timple said in the news release. \u201cBallroom dancing has been a passion of ours for so many years.
