He won three Emmy Awards,<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\":p.page.1\">\n<div>one Academy Award and three Golden Globes in his lifetime among many other accolades.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>This from a man who\u2019s Hollywood screen test claimed,<br \/>\n\u201cCan\u2019t act. Can\u2019t sing. Slightly Bald. Can dance a little.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He originally began his career partnered with his sister, Adele, as a vaudeville act.<br \/>\nThey performed together until the 1930\u2019s when Adele got married and retired from the stage.<br \/>\nIt was then that Astaire paired with who would become his most well-known partner, Ginger Rogers.<br \/>\nTogether they would make ten films and become known as<br \/>\nthe greatest dance pairs to have ever graced the stage.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2081\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2081\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fredastaire.com\/morristown\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/147\/2015\/05\/Fred-and-Adele-Astaire-ca.-1906-300x226.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2081\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fredastaire.com\/morristown\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/147\/2015\/05\/Fred-and-Adele-Astaire-ca.-1906-300x226.jpg\" alt=\"Fred and Adele ca. 1906\" width=\"300\" height=\"226\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2081\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Fred and Adele ca. 1906<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"color: #666666\">Astaire was known as a perfectionist. He would take weeks to rehearse his routines, ironing out every detail.<br \/>\nHe once said, \u201cI never yet got anything 100% right.\u201d Though in watching his routines it would be hard<br \/>\nto say what he ever got wrong. After the filming of the Belle of New York in 1952 the directors wanted<br \/>\nto reshoot a scene with Astaire to change the costume and the setting. In watching the two scenes<br \/>\nside-by-side in a split screen they are identical. Astaire was so rehearsed his timing was perfect<br \/>\nin the retake compared to the original.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Astaire passed away on June 22, 1987, but left us a legacy of music and dancing that is still alive today.<br \/>\nA performer of his caliber has not graced the stage since, but he has influenced the works of many<br \/>\nwho have come after him. His work shaped the way dance was seen on the screen and his influence is still felt today.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #666666\">In 1947 he co-founded the Fred Astaire Dance Studio company. He took the elegance and glamour<br \/>\nof Hollywood and made it accessible to everyone as a way of preserving his dancing and passing it on.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #666666\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fredastaire.com\/morristown\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/147\/2015\/05\/fredastaireAge-225x300.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2084\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fredastaire.com\/morristown\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/147\/2015\/05\/fredastaireAge-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"fredastaireAge-225x300\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #666666\"><strong>\u201cSome people seem to think that good dancers are born,\u201d Astaire once observed,\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u201cbut all the good dancers I have known are taught or trained. To me, dancing<br \/>\nhas always been fun.\u00a0<\/strong><strong>I enjoy every minute of it.
