Ballroom dancing leaves the ballroom for the polo field in a likely first-time-ever event at The 5th Annual Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships: Horses & Horsepower on Saturday, Oct. 24, at WestWorld of Scottsdale.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., professional dancers from Fred Astaire Dance Studios of Scottsdale will waltz, tango, foxtrot and swing on a real wood dance floor installed exclusively for this year’s Polo Party, which is the world’s largest polo event. The dancers will interact with the crowd and give how-to demonstrations and short lessons to those in attendance during the day-long event that includes (of course) polo matches, an art auction and a performance by the Phoenix Symphony.
“We are thrilled to be performing at such an amazing event,” says Antoinette Benevento, co-owner of Fred Astaire Dance Studios International and studio director of the Scottsdale location. “This may be the first time ballroom dancing has ever been performed field-side at a polo match.”
The Fred Astaire Dance Studios presence helps create an exceptional melding of talents, with the athleticism of the players, the power of the ponies and the grace and charm of the Fred Astaire dance professionals. The dance floor will be located in a general admission spectating area along the sideline, offering great views of both the matches and choreography.
Tickets are still available and can be purchased by going here: http://thepoloparty.com/site/tickets-tables/. The weather will be perfect, so come on out and experience the world of polo while supporting your Fred Astaire Dance Studios professional dancers.
