In the late 1960s and 1970s, the disco era took the world by storm, with nightclubs featuring electrifying music, state-of-the-art sound systems, and dazzling lights. Freestyle dancing was the norm in these discotheques, inspired by pop stars like The Jackson 5. Bellbottoms and platform shoes were practically mandatory on the dance floor, adding to the iconic look of the era. But in 1973, something new began to take shape at The Grand Ballroom\u2014a \u201ctouch dance\u201d that started as a simple six-count step with basic inside and outside turns. Little did anyone know, this would evolve into the Hustle, a dance that would define a generation.<\/span><\/p>

As the Hustle gained popularity, it transformed within the lively Latin discotheques of the time, such as The Corso and The Ipanema. New York City dancers helped popularize the 3-count Hustle, a faster, more thrilling version of the dance. With each iteration, the Hustle borrowed elements from swing, smooth ballroom, and other partner dances, making it one of the most versatile and engaging dance styles of its time.<\/span><\/p>
