What I Love Most About Teaching: My number one goal is to help people express themselves in a way that allows them to feel more comfortable in their own skin.

Who I Admire Most and Why: I deeply admire Dawn Hampton. After devoting her life to performing Lindy Hop, Cabaret, and musical theatre, she came out of retirement in her old age to teach young folks how to feel the groove. The Light is On, Dawn!

One Thing Most People Do Not Know About Me: Hatch Green Chiles are my favorite veggies.

Biography: For the past nine years, Emory has taught classes in swing, blues, and fusion dance in both Colorado and Texas, as well as competed nationally as both a leader and a follower in each of these dance forms. They won first place at The Switch in San Francisco, CA in 2017, and regularly make finals in local and state competitions as well. They also co-founded and ran Fort Collins Swing Dance in 2018, teaching dance lessons and workshops to groups and individuals, running social dances/events around town, and managing a team of dedicated staff and volunteers. After that, they coached studio cardio kickboxing classes full-time, lead six week body transformation challenges, and offered nutrition guidance. In addition to this abundance of dance and fitness experience, they’ve also taught wedding dance choreography, and coached swim lessons. Before discovering ballroom dance at Fred Astaire, they studied and social danced West Coast Swing, Argentine Tango, Kizomba, Salsa, Bachata, Zouk, and Balboa. When they’re not on the dance floor, you will find them singing/ hosting *so* much karaoke, and rock climbing both indoors and outdoors.
