Studio Etiquette

What do we teach?

We teach ballroom and latin dancing using the acclaimed Fred Astaire Trophy System. This system was developed to enable you to dance anywhere, with anyone, on any occasion!
How should I dress for my lesson?

The studio dress code is business casual. Please, no hats or jeans. Wear something comfortable that won’t inhibit your movements. Dance practice wear is available for purchase.
What kind of shoes should I wear?

Ballroom dance shoes are available for purchase at our studio for your convenience. Please, no boots, platforms, sneakers, flip flops, or slip-ons. Ballroom dance shoes are made specifically for the dance floor. They have special suede soles to prevent sticking or slipping on the floor, and they are thin and flexible to enhance balance while dancing.
What if I need to cancel my lesson?

Our cancellation policy is 24 hours. If you must cancel a lesson, please call the studio in advance so that you will not be charged.
How often should I take lessons?

As often as possible! To maximize results we recommend frequent lessons. Especially when you first start out keep your lessons as close together as possible so you can retain information and progress through the material. For example, the 5 lesson Beginner Program should be completed within one or two weeks.
Should I practice at home?

Please come and practice in the studio anytime during our business hours. This will ensure that you are not practicing incorrectly, or bumping into your coffee table!
Do I need a partner?

Not at all. We teach both singles and couples. If you join us as a single student, your instructor will be your partner for your private lessons.
How can I get a free dance lesson?

If you refer a friend, family member, colleague, etc. who enrolls in one of our programs, you will be awarded a free dance lesson for each program!
What is a Group Dance Lesson?

A group lesson consists of several students learning from one instructor.  Students concentrate primarily on Fred Astaire Trophy System syllabus material. Check out our calendar to find this month’s schedule.
Can I only take group lessons?

You could, but it is not recommended. Group lessons are designed to supplement private lessons and should be taken in combination. The Fred Astaire Trophy System combines the 3 components neccessary for dance development which are private lessons, group lessons, and practice parties.
What is a Practice Party?

A practice party is a dance social event that gives students opportunities to practice in a comfortable and friendly environment. Our themed parties have line dances, refreshments, open wine bar, and performances. Open to the public and new students.
What is the best way to learn to dance?

Follow the Trophy System, set goals for yourself, be consistent with your lessons, and take advantage of studio activities and events. Be patient and you will surely succeed!
