You’ve been taking lessons for a few weeks now but you have yet to take the leap and try a Friday night practice party. Or maybe you’re a seasoned student and have attended a handful of practice parties and don’t feel like you’ve benefited from them.
So why should you attend the Friday night practice parties? The practice parties solidify the information that you learn in the private and group classes. It’s one thing to learn the steps in a superficial setting, it’s very different making the material work in a live setting while dancing with other people. The practice parties are a great way to build up that confidence while at the same time making new friends and have a fun evening with people who share your interest in dancing.
Plus, how many people walk into a ballroom studio saying, “I want to be a competitive ballroom dancer”?! Many people come in wanting to dance socially, and the Friday night practice parties are great to give that social setting but with just students of the studio so everyone is on a level playing field.
Yes, the first practice party, and maybe even the second, feel a little intimidating. All of us have been there, which is why I can tell you with absolute certainty that after you take that first leap, it gets so much better! So, next chance you have, give a practice party a try, it can only improve your dancing!
Thinking about taking the leap now? Fred Astaire Ridgefield hosts our practice parties every Friday night from 8:30-10pm. We look forward to seeing you soon!
