Dance as Low Impact Exercise

Do certain exercises hurt? Do you want to work out but don’t want to pain that goes along with it?

Try dancing!

Ballroom dance can help improve bone strength, since it’s a weight-bearing exercise, but can cause less joint pain than high impact sports like running. In certain dances, students are taught to extend, which leads to less force being put on those parts of the body. Also, since you are holding yourself in a specific frame, it can improve posture and body alignment and increase core muscles. Dancing also teaches you to be in tune with your body. Once a student is aware of their body and how it is moving, they are less likely to get injured.
