Jose has always had a passion for dancing. At 10 years old he began studying ballroom in his native country Ecuador, later moving to Connecticut to pursue more training with his coach and mentor Dirk Heidemann, where his fascination with dance convinced him to pursue a career.
He represented his native country and competed nationally and internationally, reaching 7 national championships, 3 pan American championships and had been finalist in several competitions in Latin America, Europe and United States. He found himself surrounded by many talented dancers which served as further inspiration for his ambitions.
Born in Quito, with a latin and American heritage, Jose’s personality is quite enriched by the cultural differences. He enjoys teaching children, youth and adults. An amazing choreographer, he’s passionate to help wedding couples learn their first dance, making everyone that he teaches have an unforgettable and fun experience. His favorite dances are samba, cha cha, paso doble, jive and rumba.
Outside of the studio, Jose enjoys other artistic activities including painting, drawing, music, outdoor activities and loves playing with his dog Horus.
