Ihor Chibishev

Fred Astaire dance Studios of Southbury is proud to welcome Ihor Chibisev, one of the world’s premier ballroom dancers, to our team of instructors. With his immense experience in all forms of ballroom, Ihor is known for his flawless technique, charismatic personality, and effortless ability to share his passion for dance with students of all ages. 

Ihor began dancing in his hometown of Poltava, Ukraine when he was seven and went on to progress in several dance styles. As his competitive career developed, he quickly rose to the top, winning numerous championships and trophy titles with his dance partner, Diana Zhosan, including: Ukrainian Open Championship, World10 Dance Championship, Dynasty Cup, Stars of Ukraine and Grand Prix Dance.

A graduate of Kiev National University of Culture and Arts, Ihor earned a Masters degree in Choreography and Professional Dance. He is highly skilled in the European and Latin American curriculum and has studied with many of the dance world’s most prestigious and  highly influential coaches. As an instructor and coach himself, Ihor has guided many students to top placements and championships. 

Upon moving to the United States Ihor has continued to garner countless top awards including Northeast Dance Sport Championship, Metropolitan Dance Sport Championship, Tri-State Dance Sport Championship and United States Dance Championship His expansive talents and love of performing extend to theatre, acting and television performances.

In his spare time Ihor enjoys soccer and traveling to new places of interest. And  those graceful, elegant moves are not limited to dance. Ihor is also quite adept at karate!
