Rob McGurn

Rob has been teaching american rhythm, smooth,  ballroom international and latin dance for over 25 years. He endeavors to develop confident dancers who can have fun in any dance situation. He strives to get his students comfortable within their own body to feel power and ease which translates into confidence on and off the dance floor. He uses functional body alignment combined with fluid movement to get his students excited about their dancing. Rob is passionate about dancers developing a cooperative, conversational language to be able to dance comfortably together. He currently competes professionally in Smooth with his partner Laura.

Rob specializes in corrective movement and uses his knowledge of Body Mechanics to make his students feel comfortable. He believes physical limitations should not hold someone back from learning to dance. Ballroom dancing can be a fabulous form of exercise to gently move and help heal the body. He holds a degree in Movement Science – Health Fitness from Westfield State University. He previously worked as a personal trainer where he was certified by ACSM and NASM.

Rob is passionate about organic, sustainable living and loves to check out local Farmer’s Markets. He also has a slightly encyclopedic knowledge of random movie quotes.
