Some Things Never Change, Like Our Appreciation For Dance
November 21, 2016
How good the movement makes you feel. The joy of expressing yourself on the dance floor, using your body instead of words. The pleasure of melding music and motion.
Our students will testify to the fun they have on the dance floor at Fred Astaire Dance Studio, the self-confidence they build, the friendships they make, the relationships they build. We back that up, of course, with superb instructors whose private lessons and group classes in ballroom dance set the industry standard.
You have much company as a dance aficionado. Through the ages, many of the great minds indicated how much they enjoyed putting their bodies to use in dance. So we’re going to share a few of their thoughts with you. If you are an active member of FADS, keep it up. If you’ve tailed off a little, ramp it up. There’s no time like the holidays to treat yourself right (and a Fred Astaire gift card for a special someone would also be a lovely gesture).
Now, some fascinating observations about dance …
“Nobody cares if you can’t dance well. Just get up and dance. Great dancers are great because of their passion.” ― Martha Graham
“Every day brings a chance for you to draw in a breath, kick off your shoes, and dance.” ― Oprah Winfrey
“We should consider every day lost on which we have not danced at least once.” ― Friedrich Nietzsche
“The search for what you want is like tracking something that doesn’t want to be tracked. It takes time to get a dance right, to create something memorable.” ― Fred Astaire
