We’re Swinging Into November With Some Great Events!

This is the time of the year when the temperature drops, but the fun never stops at your Fred Astaire Dance Studio of West Hartford. We will keep you hopping!

The Regional Competition in Stamford is set for Nov. 9-11 (Thursday-Saturday).

Students with an interest in watching the competition can stop by the front desk for more information. It is always a great treat for our competitors to have their dance colleagues in the audience supporting them.

On Wednesday Nov. 15, Anastasia Abrashin will be here for a day of coaching. Students can schedule coaching sessions with their instructors. She will be teaching a Rhythm and Timing Master class at 7:30 p.m. That class will cost $20 per person. Anastasia is a three-time United States Nine Dance champion who retired from professional competition in 2005. You will enjoy learning from her.

We’ll be having a special Rat Pack-themed party in honor of our John Brighenty, a student who recently passed away unexpectedly. We want to honor him with a night of dancing to his favorite music. We will be collecting new or gently-used sweaters for the Sweaters for Veterans project, a charity with special meaning to John, who was a veteran himself.

We’re also going to take a little holiday break for Thanksgiving. The studio will be closed Nov. 23-24, and we wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving.

Looking just a little further out: We have our Showcase Ball on Friday, Dec. 1, from 7-9 p.m. This is a ticketed event, and more information is coming soon.
