Let Your Personality Shine in the Rumba!
- February 26, 2025

Universally recognized as the dance of love, the Rumba is a romantic dance style that allows your personality to shine through.
The slowest of the Latin dance styles, the Rumba is a great starting point for learning Latin dances. With slow steps and hip movements, this Afro-Cuban dance is a perfect fit for a wide range of skill levels.
History
The roots of the Rumba can be traced back to the 16th century, when the dance rhythms and traditions of enslaved Africans in Cuba merged with Spanish music to create a powerful, passionate new dance style. In modern times, Rumba has become a cultural symbol of Cuba and has spread across the world!
Storytelling
The Rumba is well-suited to a variety of music – just about any song with a slow, 4/4 beat is great for the Rumba!
To really express your personality and creativity with this dance style, choose your favorite love ballad and pair your moves with the lyrics! The Rumba is even more captivating when the dancers are telling a story that highlights the dance’s unique character, history, and emotion.
