Local Fred Astaire Dance Studio Competes in Ohio Ball Star Championships

DOYLESTOWN, PA – During the third week of November 2021, local ballroom dance studio, Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Doylestown traveled to Columbus, Ohio to participate in the Ohio Star Ball Championships (OSB).

OSB is the largest Pro/Am Competition in the world today, often referred to as “a festival of dancesport.”

Five of Fred Astaire Doylestown’s students participated in the event with their instructors: Diane Clemons, Samantha Ferris, Debra Lajeunesse, LeeAnn Reed, and Nancy Stone. Their hard work and dedication paid off earning them well-deserved, amazing results.

Samantha Ferris earned herself the titles of World Pro/Am Champion and Ohio Champion. She won first place in the following divisions: World Pro/Am Dancesport Series Silver Rhythm, B Level Silver Open Rhythm Scholarship (out of 12 couples), World Pro/Am Dancesport Series Silver Smooth Scholarship, and Bronze International Standard. She placed fifth in both Open Silver Smooth Scholarship, and Open Silver Smooth divisions. Out of 17 couples, she placed sixth in the World Pro/Am Dancesport Series 9-Dance Championships. She placed fourth in the International Latin Scholarship.

Nancy Stone also earned herself multiple titles: Ohio Star Ball Champion and Ohio Open Bronze Champion. She won first place in both Senior Bronze Open Rhythm Scholarship and Senior Open Bronze Scholarship. Out of 14 couples, she placed second in the Senior World Pro/Am Dancesport Series Bronze Rhythm Championship. Out of 12 couples, she placed fourth in the Open Bronze Smooth Scholarship.

Diane Clemons danced beautifully earning third place in the Silver Open Rhythm Scholarship and sixth in both Silver C Level Smooth Scholarship and C Level Open Silver Smooth Scholarship divisions.

Debra Lajeunesse earned fourth place in the C Level Bronze Open Rhythm Scholarship, and sixth in the World Pro/Am Dancesport Series Bronze Smooth Division. Out of 17 couples, she placed fifth in the C Level World Pro/Am Dancesport Series Bronze Rhythm Championship. Out of 16 couples, she placed fifth in the Open Bronze Smooth Scholarship.

LeeAnn Reed’s hard work paid off as she earned sixth place out of 15 couples in the Senior Bronze Rhythm Scholarship division.

With more than 120 studios nationwide and 150 participants, The Doylestown studio earned fourth place for Top Studio. Igori Bogatiriov and Yuliya Jung, owners of the Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Doylestown, were overwhelmed with joy saying, “Great achievement and progress, you all danced with such beauty and grace. Congratulations!” They thanked all the studio’s amazing students along with the coaches and Fred Astaire Dance Studios® personnel who helped make these achievements possible.
