About Fred Astaire Dance Studios Alhambra

A local studio built on the Fred Astaire method: structured teaching, supportive instructors, and the belief that anyone can learn to dance. Instruction overseen by Jonathan Roberts, former World and US Ballroom champion, 7 seasons on Dancing With the Stars.

What to Know About Fred Astaire Dance Studios Alhambra

Fred Astaire Dance Studios has taught partner dancing since 1947, with a structured curriculum refined across hundreds of studios. The Alhambra studio brings that method to the San Gabriel Valley: clear levels, measurable progress, and instructors trained to teach real beginners, not just polish experienced dancers.
Like every Fred Astaire studio, the Alhambra location is locally owned and operated, part of a franchise built on Astaire’s original teaching standards rather than a single corporate playbook.

The first thing most people want to know about Fred Astaire Dance Studios Alhambra is whether they need experience or a partner. You need neither. Most students walk in having never taken a lesson, and plenty of them come on their own. Your first visit is an intro lesson with an instructor, so the pace is set around you and nobody is rushing you along.

From there, your instructor maps out a plan around what you want: a first dance for a wedding, confidence at a party, or a style you have always wanted to try. Lessons follow the Fred Astaire curriculum, so every step builds on the last and you always know what comes next. Couples are welcome to start together, and single students are just as welcome to start alone. Students who want more time on the floor can add group classes, a relaxed way to dance with other people at a similar level.
