ROGER ROMERO
- Studio Owner -
Hi and welcome!
I’m Roger Romero, a professional dancer, teacher, and coach, and the proud owner of Fred Astaire Dance Studios – Palm Harbor.
Dance has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, and I truly love sharing it with others. Along with being a dancer, I’m also a physical therapist, entrepreneur, and a big fan of the entertainment and show business world, which allows me to blend artistry, technique, and care for the body in everything I teach.
I’m trained in a wide variety of dance styles, including Ballroom American Style (Rhythm & Smooth), Ballroom International Style (Latin & Standard), and Club Dances such as Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, and Kizomba. I also teach and perform many other styles like Jazz, Hip Hop, Country, West Coast Swing, Argentine Tango, and more. I love helping students explore different dances and discover what makes them feel confident, comfortable, and happy on the dance floor.
My dance journey started when I was seven years old in Spain, and from that moment on, I knew this was my path. Over the years, I became a Spanish finalist and a semifinalist at world-class competitions such as the Blackpool Dance Festival and the German Open Championships. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to learn from and be guided by amazing teachers who shaped my career, including Karina Rubio, Dirk & Linda Cosyns, Mauro Rossi, Tony Dovolani, Eugene Katsevman, Victor Nikovski, Rufus Dustin, Marianne Nicole, Neilas Katinas, Hans Galke, and Jürgen Neudeck.
Beyond competitions, I’ve had the opportunity to work extensively in television and entertainment. I joined the TV casts of Dancing With The Stars (Spain) and The Dancer, created my own successful show and events company called StarDance, and performed at major events across Europe. I also worked as a choreographer and dancer at PortAventura World, Ferrari Land, and Hiten Circus in China, and participated in music videos with international artists such as Dua Lipa.
In May 2022, I moved to the United States to join Fred Astaire Dance Studios, and since then, the adventure hasn’t stopped. I’ve taught at studios in Warwick, Rhode Island, and Sarasota, Florida, and I’ve been invited to coach students and instructors at many studios across the country. What I enjoy most is creating meaningful memories with my students and helping them grow—not only as dancers, but as people. I always remind them:
“Practice doesn’t make perfection; practice makes progress.”
Step by step, I’ve been building a strong and exciting career in the U.S. In February 2026, I made a long-time dream come true by opening Fred Astaire Dance Studios – Palm Harbor. My vision is to create a welcoming space for people of all ages, backgrounds, and goals—a place where beginners, students, and professionals feel inspired to learn, grow, connect, and enjoy life through dance. Our team truly looks forward to meeting you and welcoming you into our dance family.
