It could be just a month before you're taking your first new students! But don't worry, you will continue to learn and grow in your dancing even after becoming a teacher. Our Instructor Training and Certification Program ensures a consistent, high-level of dance instruction because it teaches our instructors how to teach in a way that people naturally learn. Our dance curriculum is also continuously reviewed by dance champions and registered judges on the Fred Astaire National Dance Board to ensure only the finest and most up-to-date curriculum for you and our students.

How much previous dance experience do I need?

Fred Astaire Dance Studio instructors hail from a multitude of backgrounds from all over the world. Some have Fine Arts degrees and actively pursue their professional dancing while many focus their passion on sharing their love of dance through teaching. Many instructors have prior dance experience from school, classes, or a professional setting but, because of our thorough and comprehensive Instructor Training and Certification Program, prior dance experience is welcomed but not required.

Are Fred Astaire Dance Instructor positions full-time or part-time?

What can I wear to teach?

The specific dress code is set by each studio, but in general Fred Astaire Certified Dance Instructors dress professionally. Clothing that is both appropriate & comfortable for teaching and dancing is expected. We like to call the attire Ballroom Chic. In most studios this means slacks, dress shirts and ties for the gentlemen and skirts, dresses, or slacks for the ladies – and of course, approved ballroom dance shoes for everyone. For activities, events and matches, the dress code may vary.
