Fred Astaire Dance Studios of Tampa Bay’s regional boot camp and team match was an exciting day of learning and growth, with some spectacular dancing! The evening took place at the St. Petersburg Central studio. The boot camp portion began at 5:30. Manuel Favilla, Fred Astaire National Latin Champion and World Finalist, presented a rhythm master class for the entire region. He focused on Cha Cha, Rumba and Samba, geared toward all levels of dancing!
After dinner, the Newcomers Team Match began with Brandon dressed in blue to show support for first time competitors. This evening was a wonderful opportunity for newcomers to find confidence and enhance their skills on the dance floor. This fun event allowed the ability to earn team points with a competition feel, but without the pressures normally surrounding competing. Each competitor was awarded a Fred Astaire Tampa Bay t-shirt.

Lawson danced smooth and rhythm dances with instructor Kelle Chancellor. Don danced smooth dances with instructor Sierra Boyea, and rhythm with instructor Kelle Chancellor. Both gentlemen did a wonderful job their first time on the competition floor!
What an exhilarating day of dancing we had at the boot camp and newcomers team match! The great thing that sets Fred Astaire Dance Studios apart is that we are one team. As a result, we all work together to share the joy of dance with our communities. Our students enable us to do this job every day.
