Timofey Shalnev- Owner, Manager, Dance Instructor

Tim Shalnev is a champion dancer with numerous World Dance Sport Federation titles from Russia, Belarus, Romania, and the Ukraine.

Each year since joining Fred Astaire in 2006, he was named the Fred Astaire’s Top Teacher in New York and received Outstanding Male Performer awards.

In 2011, 2013,2015,2017, and 2019, Tim represented the US in South American Worlds Dance Championship in Argentina and in 2013 his students won South American Ambassador of Dance award in Buenos Aires. His students won many prestigious national and regional dance competitions in the United States. In 2018 he successfully represented the United States at the most important dance competition in the world: Blackpool Dance Festival in the United Kingdom.

Since 2014, Tim has been the managing owner of the Fred Astaire Midtown Dance Studio Fred Astaire Chelsea where he assembled a stellar staff of champion dancers and instructors. Top national and international coaches are regularly invited to teach at Fred Astaire New York Midtown. The studio is ranked among the top studios in the United States. In 2021, Tim opened his second studio at Fred Astaire Chelsea.

Tim has become one of the most respected teachers and coaches in the ballroom dance world. He believes that dance can be the artistic expression of each student’s personality and is dedicated to his students fulfilling their utmost potential in the dance.
Tim has an MFA in dance education from Russian State University in Voronezh.
