Joseph Gomez is a Latin American dancer originally from Cartagena, Colombia. He recently graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and a minor in Psychology from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
Before moving to the United States, Joseph developed a strong foundation in Hip-Hop and Latin music styles in Colombia, which continue to influence his movement vocabulary and choreographic voice. During his time at NSU, he expanded his training in concert dance, studying ballet, jazz, contemporary, and modern dance, with a focus on techniques such as Lester Horton and Merce Cunningham.
He was an active performer in several major productions, including the annual Spring Dance Concerts, the Community Christmas Gala, and the site-specific dance event Modern in Motion.
he premiered his own choreographic work as part of his senior concert at the A.A. Fredricks Fine Arts Center, where he showcased a unique blend of his cultural roots and formal training.
Joseph recently relocated to New Jersey to begin a new chapter in his professional journey as a dance instructor at Fred Astaire Dance Studios, where he continues to share his passion for movement and diverse dance background with a broader community.
