Between booking caterers, finalizing the guest list, and fitting the dress, your wedding checklist can quickly become overwhelming. Often, couples leave their first dance preparation until the very last minute. While it’s never too late to get on the dance floor, we’ve mapped out the ideal timeline for your dance lessons to ensure your time on the floor is filled with joy rather than stress.
4 to 6 Months Out (The Sweet Spot): This is the best time to schedule your introductory lesson. Starting early gives you plenty of time to learn basic footwork, build muscle memory, and gain genuine confidence on the floor. It also ensures your dance lessons feel like a fun, romantic date night out in Greenwich, away from the stress of wedding planning rather than another chore.
2 to 3 Months Out (Refining the Choreography): By this stage, you’ll have your song picked out, and your instructor will be tailoring the choreography to your specific style and comfort level. You’ll practice entrances, dips, and exits, ensuring that the dance flows naturally and looks effortless to your guests.
1 Month Out (The Final Polish): In the final weeks, it’s all about rehearsal. We highly recommend practicing in your wedding shoes (or shoes of a similar height) to get used to the traction. If your dress has a long train or a bustle, let your instructor know so we can practice maneuvering around the fabric. By the time your wedding day arrives, you won’t be thinking about your feet—you’ll just be enjoying the moment.
