Jessica has dreamed of becoming a dancer and choreographer since childhood, though she often found herself torn between her love for the art of dance and outside expectations of who she was to become. After earning her Bachelor of Science degree, Jessica realized that nothing fulfilled her more than dance. The joy, passion, and a sense of purpose she found on the dancefloor paved a clear path forward, as it was clear that dance was not just a hobby for her – it was her vocation, her calling.
Beginning her training at 8 years old, Jessica was trained primarily in jazz, tap, and lyrical styles before completely immersing herself in International Latin Ballroom. Becoming a company dancer for a local studio in Texas at 14, Jessica competed in youth ballroom competitions, gaining valuable stage experience as well as confidence in performing. During her time at this local studio, she also taught classes and choreographed routines for youth classes, sparking a love for teaching and mentoring other young dancers.
It wasn’t until joining Fred Astaire that Jessica truly found her home. Here at Fred Astaire, she has been able to not only continue her love for International style dance, but also embrace American style ballroom, opening the door to exploring new facets of dance she had not explored before. This environment has allowed her to grow as both a dancer and a teacher, while fueling her passion for sharing the beauty and passion of dance with others.
Jessica believes dance is more than movement – it is freedom, connection, expression. The greatest fulfillment comes from helping her students discover those same qualities within themselves on the dance floor.
