Fred Astaire Dance Studio, Newtown
Roman and Iryna bring with them their youthful yet charismatic dance skills. Growing up Roman was given the choice of enrolling in karate or dance class, and he knew he was on the path to dance. He started dancing when he was 7 in his home country of Ukraine. Iryna was a dance instructor in Cherkasy, Ukraine from 2002 until 2005. She graduated from the University of Culture and Art with a bachelor’s degree in Ballroom and Latin Choreography in 2006. In 2008, Iryna became a junior dance instructor at the “Dance Center Marich” in Odessa, Ukraine. Later, Roman and Iryna moved to China where they taught Latin and Ballroom dance at the “Duncan Academy” and the “Lily Rose” dance school in Shenzhen from 2013 to 2017 and as of 2015, Roman became the WDC International Adjudicator. Their favorite thing about teaching dance is being able to communicate with their students and seeing their growth and smiling faces!
Together, Roman and Iryna have secured top placements at a number of prominent Dancesport competitions in the United States, including:
- 3rd place: 2019 Maryland Dancesport Championships, in Professional Rising Star Smooth (Baltimore, MD)
- 3rd place: 2019 Golden Star Dancesport Championships, in Professional Rising Star Smooth (Jersey City, NJ)
- 3rd place: 2019 Eastern United States Dancesport Championships, in Professional Rising Star Smooth (Boston, MA)
- 3rd place: 2018 Northeast Dancesport Championships, in Professional American Rhythm Bronze & Silver (Whippany, NJ)
- 2nd place: 2018 Northeast Dancesport Championships, in Professional American Smooth Bronze & Silver (Whippany, NJ)
- 1st Place: 2018 National Dance Championships, in Professional Bronze and Silver Closed Smooth Division (Orlando, FL)

- Multi-champion and vice-champion of Ukraine in Latin and Ballroom dances
- Semi-finalist of the London Open Cup in 2007

Roman was ranked in the Top 1 of all the professional dance instructors in the Fred Astaire franchise in 2020 “Fred Astaire World Cup”, where the top 20 of our 1,100 dance instructors compete for the title of Top Teacher.
In the past, Roman and Iryna’s students continually brought home gold, silver, and bronze medals from some of the most prestigious and recognized Pro/Am competitions in the United States. They are awarded highly esteemed accolades for their performances in almost every competition they enter. Their incredible success has led Roman’s former studio to receive countless Top Studio awards, helping them rank amongst the best, not only in the state of Pennsylvania, but nationally as well.
