Michael Chaves – Studio Owner, Fred Astaire Port St. Lucie

Born in Tacoma, Washington and raised in Colombia, Michael Chaves began his dance journey in 2000. His early passion for Latin rhythms led him to perform around the world with a professional salsa team, showcasing his talent in major cities such as Las Vegas, Seattle, Portland, and throughout California.

In 2006, Michael expanded his dance repertoire by training in ballroom dance. His commitment and versatility led him to join Arthur Murray Dance Studios in 2012, where he continued to grow as both a performer and instructor.

In 2014, Michael moved to Florida and began his career with Fred Astaire Dance Studios. He quickly established himself as a leader in the dance community, first as an instructor at Fred Astaire West Palm Beach, then as the manager of the Fred Astaire Wellington location. Today, he proudly serves as the owner of Fred Astaire Port St. Lucie, bringing his wealth of experience and passion to every student who walks through the door.

Michael has earned numerous accolades throughout his career, including Top Teacher and Top Specialist awards. He is especially passionate about guiding students from the beginner level to advanced dancing—introducing them to the exciting world of competitions, show performances, and more. His greatest joy comes from helping students realize just how far dance can take them.
