Tanya Chaves – Studio Owner, Fred Astaire Port St. Lucie

Tanya Chaves has been passionate about dance from a young age. Her journey began in high school, where she was a dedicated member of the dance team and cheer squad. Her talent and enthusiasm took her to the semi-professional level as a cheerleader with the BC Felions, the official dance team for the BC Lions in Canada.

In 2009, Tanya discovered ballroom dancing and began her professional training with Arthur Murray in the Seattle area. It was there she met her future husband and dance partner, Michael Chaves. Together, they relocated to Florida and began an exciting new chapter with Fred Astaire Dance Studios in 2014.

Tanya quickly rose through the ranks, starting as an instructor at Fred Astaire West Palm Beach and later becoming the manager of Fred Astaire Wellington. Her dedication, warmth, and expertise earned her multiple awards, including Top Female Teacher and Top Specialist. Today, Tanya is the proud co-owner of Fred Astaire Port St. Lucie, alongside her husband Michael.

Tanya loves every aspect of her work—from dancing and teaching to connecting with people and helping them discover their own dance journeys. For her, dance is more than just a passion—it’s her life’s calling, and she finds joy in showing others just how far dancing can take them.
