Katt Baumgartner has been a professional ballroom dance instructor since 2001. She has a High Honors National Certification in American Style Rhythm and Smooth. Proficient in all styles of both American and International dance, with her students Katt holds Top Teacher awards around the USA. She has achieved the rank of Top Female Teacher in multiple national competitions and top teacher finalist in the Global Dancesport Series.
Katt has many achievements as a professional dancer. She is a finalist of the United States Dance Championships and Vice Champion of The Ohio Star Ball in RS Open Professional Smooth. She is a numerous time champion in Professional American Smooth, both RS and Open in multiple competitions around the country and a RS Open Professional Smooth finalist in every major NDCA competition in the United States.
Katt’s dance background began with eleven years as a classical ballerina with the Dayton Ballet where six of those years were spent in their pre-professional company performing in several major productions. She has studied and danced different styles including Middle Eastern Belly Dance, Hindi, Broadway (Fosse), Flamenco, Contemporary, Modern, and African Tribal.
Katt’s passion to dance and teach has extended to such experiences as coaching celebrities for ABC’s show Dancing with the Stars, coach and choreographer for Cate Blanchett in a major motion picture, to appearing on Season 11 of So You Think You Can Dance.
Katt is very excited and happy to bring her joy of teaching and dancing to Virginia Beach with the Fred Astaire family!
