August is a busy month for us at your Fred Astaire Dance Studio of West Hartford. Let us get you up to speed quickly.
On Friday, Aug. 12, we’re having a dress rehearsal for August competition the following week in Greenwich. Dress rehearsal will be in the studio from 7:30-9:30 p.m. If you are entered, please make note of the date and time. If you’d like to come and watch, please do so. There’s no charge and our dancers would certainly welcome an audience.
Our regional competition is Thursday, Aug. 18, through Aug. 20 at the Hyatt Regency in Greenwich. It’s quite the big deal, and competition runs through the day, every day. three of our teachers will compete in the professional comp that Thursday night. Three of our very own instructors will be competing: Jelena Kolarovic with Anthony Wiliams in the Mixed Novice category, MC Varanelli with Anthony Wiliams in the Mixed Intermediate category, and Jelena with Danilo (from the Hamden studio) in closed silver Rhythm.
Following the competition on Saturday night is a dress-up cocktail hour and banquet. The banquet is $171.20 and includes dinner, dancing, and a professional ballroom show; daily competition tickets are $30.
We need to get a headcount as soon as we can, so please do not delay. Call us or stop by to pick up tickets – either way is fun, but we’d like to have a round number by Friday, Aug. 5.
