Your Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Bonita Springs could not be prouder of the dedicated students who will be taking part in the 2018 Sundance Competition.
This inter-regional ballroom and Latin dance competition will be taking place from Aug. 23-26 at the Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne, 455 Grand Bay Drive, Key Biscayne, Fla.) It is quite a prestigious affair and we will be well-represented.
Students who are going to complete are:
- Jay Burke, with his instructor, Alexandra, on American Smooth and American Rhythm.
- Kathy Burke (Jay’s wife), with Yuriy and Pavlo, also in Smooth and Rhythm.
- Mark Youngblood will compete with Alexandra, but only in Rhythm as he will also be dancing the Bronze Closed Rhythm Championships.
All three students will be competing in Bronze level.
For our competitors, Smooth dances are Foxtrot, Tango, Waltz and Viennese Waltz. Rhythm dances: Cha Cha, Rumba, Swing and Hustle.
Championships means that a student with instructor dances (in this case) three dances, back-to-back: Cha Cha, Rumba and Swing. Placement is based on the total of three, as opposed to single dances when a student receives placement for each individual dance.
Our dancers would love your support at this event. Friday morning and evening sessions, as well as Saturday morning’s, are priced at $35-40. Tickets are available at the door.
The banquet dinner and professional show should be reserved at the studio. It is quite elegant. That event on Saturday evening starts with cocktails, usually at 7:30 p.m., followed by sit-down dinner. There will be general dancing, studios awards and a professional show. It will end approximately at 11:30 pm. It is also black tie, long dress event.
Talk to us at the studio about ticketing for this fabulous banquet!
Here’s wishing Jay Burke, Kathy Burke and Mark Youngblood all the success in the world at the 2018 Sundance Classic Aug. 23-26 in Key Biscayne. Hope you can make it there to cheer them on!
