Katie was only 3 years old when she took her first dance class in Bradenton, Florida. She learned Ballet, Tap, and Jazz at Georgene’s School of Dance. While studying Elementary Education at Florida State University, she continued to dance Jazz, Hip Hop, and Pom as a teammate on the Golden Girls dance team. Katie also graduated from the University of Florida with a Law degree. However, her heart still belonged to dance. Luckily, she found Fred Astaire in the fall of 2007 and started taking lessons as a student. In less than a year she became an instructor at the Fred Astaire in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Since then, she has received the highest awards as a teacher in Florida and many of her students have won top solo and showcase awards nationally. -2-times U.S. Mambo Champion
-U.S. Open Rhythm Semi-Finalist and Rising Star Finalist
-U.S. Open Cabaret and Theatrical Vice Champion
-Emerald Ball Open Rhythm Finalist
-Ohio Star Ball Rising Star Rhythm Finalist
Since retiring from professional competition, she enjoys choreographing showcases for the studio, the region, and recently she choreographed the 70th Anniversary Show at Fred Astaire National Championships in Orlando.
