As the year comes to a close, we know every dancer is thinking of their New Year’s resolution. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or a beginner, the following resolutions we came up with would be perfect for you! At Fred Astaire Dance Studios, we believe in having fun above all and truly enriching people’s lives, so every resolution is crafted to improve your year with zero pressure!
Learn a New Style of Dance
Start the new year with some new style! Do you feel you’ve mastered one style and you’re ready to learn another? Or do you simply want to add another style to your repertoire? At Fred Astaire Dance Studios, you can learn the waltz, salsa, swing, tango, and much more!
Dance More Outside of the Studio
Dancing in the studio is so much fun. This year, try dancing some more outside of the studio too. Bring those new skills to the dance floor of the world and show off your moves.
Get To Know More People in the Community
The community at FADS is inviting and incredibly friendly! We are a judgment-free zone, and we all love to encourage positivity. Meeting more people in the community can bring you closer to the art of dance, and you end up making a real connection with genuine people!
Work On Flexibility
The more you dance, the more your body gets used to the movement. With this movement comes an increase in flexibility. This year, work on stretching and increasing your flexibility to increase your flow.
Compare Less
We all fall into the comparison game. When you begin your journey in dance, you want to work on your dance skills and have fun! Spend less time criticizing yourself and comparing yourself to other dancers, and work on complimenting yourself more.
Say Yes To Trying New Things
Work on trying more things this year! Trying new things can be scary, but try saying yes when you want to say “no.” Don’t let fear hold you back. Remember, growth happens in the uncomfortable zone!
Increase Muscle Strength
Dancing is a workout in itself! That’s one of the great benefits of dance. Increasing your muscle strength will improve your endurance and agility. Increase your strength by working out more and, of course, dancing more!
Be More Confident
Raising your confidence will improve your dancing ability because you’ll believe in yourself more. Repeat positive affirmations daily, such as “I am beautiful” and “I am a great dancer.”
Invite Friends To Dance
Dance is more fun when you dance with your friends! Put your friends on to dancing lessons and bring them into a class. If your friend has been looking for a new hobby, bring them in or have them try an online class with you!
Letting Loose To the Music
It can be hard to let loose and give in to the music. Especially when you’re thinking about whether you’re following the steps correctly or not. This year, work on just feeling the music in your body and following the energy. Dancing is more fun this way too!
Join Fred Astaire Studios This Year
Above all, we at FADS want all dancers out there to meet all your goals this year. We know that following resolutions can get hard sometimes. Especially when you don’t have the right support system. When you join Fred Astaire Dance Studios, you’ll find the support you need to meet your dancing goals and have fun doing it!
