5 Dancing Styles You & Your Romantic Partner Will Love

Learning to dance is a fun hobby; if you’re in a romantic relationship, it provides something the two of you can do together. Dancing helps you connect romantically and gives you a bit of physical activity as well.

Here are some romantic dance styles to consider adding to your next date night.

1. Waltz

The waltz is the quintessential romantic dance. Yet the modern waltz is a little different than the one you danced at your prom. It’s an excellent dance for beginners, especially if one partner isn’t quite as enthusiastic about learning to dance.

It also works well as a first dance for a wedding reception. The slow pace and fancy dips can make it a dance that lets you show off a bit, too, if you wish.

2. Tango

The tango is ideal for a romantic dance if you’re ready to try something more challenging than the waltz. It keeps the dance partners close together throughout much of the dance, which is perfect for your romantic inspiration.

It also has lively steps and alternates between fast and slow, making it a fun, interesting dance to practice. It can be easy to catch onto at first but requires some true dancing prowess to perfect.

3. Salsa

The salsa is a sensual, upbeat Latin-style dance. It doesn’t require a lot of movement across the dance floor. Instead, you move your upper body and legs and stay in mostly one area. There are many different types of salsa, which can add interest to learning this dance as a couple.

4. Foxtrot

The foxtrot is a graceful dance that uses short, quick steps and long walking movements to move the couple across the dance floor. It has a subtle rise and fall action and is interesting to learn.

Even though it looks somewhat simple and elegant, this is a challenging dance to learn. We recommend tackling this dance after you have some others under your belt.

5. Two-Step

If country western dancing is more your style, the two-step could be a fun dance to take on. You’ll hold hands throughout this dance and enjoy some simple turns as you move across the dance floor. It also provides the chance to dance to upbeat country-style music.
