October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Fred Astaire Dance Studios of Illinois and The Pink Fund are once again honoring and raising donations for the courageous women who are battling this disease during a special engagement called Dancing With the Survivors. On October 22nd women from all over Chicagoland are sharing their stories and their dancing talents as they partner with Fred Astaire Dance Studios professionals for a special performance at the Itasca Country Club. Our long-time student, Linda Frencl, is seeking sponsorship for this important event that raises funds to assist those who are fighting it.
Here is Linda’s story and why it is so important to her:
“I was first diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 40 years old. After many consultations, I decided to have a lumpectomy. This procedure was new at the time of my diagnosis. After the procedure, my surgeon told me that I had more cancer cells and then I had a radical mastectomy. With two reconstruction surgeries, I felt that I had beat the disease. At the age of 65 I was diagnosed with breast cancer in my remaining breast. This time I had a new mastectomy procedure which involved having reconstruction at the same time the mastectomy was performed. Through dance I have hope for the future and feel confident and beautiful while dancing. Breast cancer surgery is devastating, but it is not the end of your life. Please help support this great cause!”

So much goes into the care and treatment of breast cancer patients and they often must bear incredible expenses. That’s why Linda needs your help in raising funds:
“The Pink Fund provides up to 90 days and $3,000 of financial support to qualified breast cancer patients in active treatment by making payments directly to their creditors for housing, transportation, utilities and insurance. It is my goal to raise a minimum of $3,000 which would allow me to help one woman in treatment. Your ticket purchase alone can help support my goal. ”
Tickets and donations are tax deductible and more information is available at www.thepinkfund.org.
Please support Linda and help in the fight against this terrible disease and mark your calendar for a night of inspiring women and their performances at Dancing With the Survivors.
